Kettering Football Club 1964 Premiership Team Surviving Members

In 1964 the Kettering Football Club brought home the flag after becoming premiers. To celebrate the 50th anniversary, the surviving members reunited at the Oyster Cove Inn on Sunday 16 March to remember the good old days and to celebrate the occasion with their family and friends. There were also members from the Kettering Cricket, Basketball and Netball clubs in attendance. The sports clubs in the Kettering District were very successful at that time.

The group held a minutes silence to remember their former team mates.

Four players from the U16 1966 Premiership Team, were also in attendance. Peter Sward remembered that they faced Kingston Football Club but had not defeated them throughout the home and away season. They won the second semi final by 44 points and went on to bring home the flag in the grand final by 77 points, coached by George Triffitt.

Unfortunately, most of the Channel District was wiped out in the 1967 Tasmanian bush fires. This flag was lucky to have survived with most historical memorabilia destroyed.
